Ginger acquires Schniering Gmbh German specialist in measuring and assessing the condition of roads

Elancourt – 3 May 2021, Ginger acquires Schniering Gmbh, one of the historical players in the German market for high-speed measurement and assessment of the conditions of roadways. This acquisition strengthens its position as European leader in this field, where it is already present in Germany, Poland and the United Kingdom through its Ginger Lehmann division.

Schniering GmbH, founded in 1965 and a subsidiary of TÜV Rheinland since 2009, is one of the historical players in the field of high-speed roadway measurements in Germany, where it has recognized technical expertise. The firm, located in Essen in the state of North Rhein-Westphalia, Germany, records annual turnover of 4 million euros and employs 42 people.
Its mission is to collect high-precision digital data on roadway defects using 3D laser sensors and very high-definition cameras. By identifying all cracks, ruts, potholes, deformations and roughness on the roadway, Schniering Gmbh provides motorway and road operators in Germany with useful data to qualify and quantify maintenance and repair programmes.

It operates a fleet of measurement vehicles, developed in-house by its Research and Development team, including three Argus-system trucks for high-speed motorway measurements (travel speed of up to 100 km/h) and two quad-bikes for cycle lane measurements, which Schniering pioneered.
Moreover, it also owns two trucks with SKM/SCRIM technology for measuring road skid resistance.

Thanks to this new acquisition, four years after that of Lehmann + Partner, Ginger boosts its measurement division with combined turnover of €10M in Germany and a total headcount of over 100 employees.

“I’m delighted that Schniering Gmbh has joined the Ginger Lehmann division, which has led it to increase its technical equipment capabilities and open up new R&D perspectives.
It also represents another step forward for the Ginger Group in establishing its international presence.” Philippe MARGARIT, Ginger Group CEO.
