_A wide range of projects

Drilling boreholes to install multi-sensor observation stations for the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Guadeloupe (OVSG-IPGP)

The purpose of the requested boreholes is to install measurement equipment (seismometers, inclinometers, piezometers, temperature sensors and conductivity sensors). The aim of this instrumentation is to monitor the microseismicity generated by the hydrothermal activity under the dome of La Souffrière volcano, the variations in the water table and the deformations associated with the reactivation of the volcano. At each site, core drilling was carried out to a depth of 50 m and destructive drilling to a depth of 10 m. These boreholes open onto a reinforced concrete slab. The purpose of the core drillings is to retrieve ash cores, as intact as possible, from the last eruptions of La Souffrière over a period of almost 1,000 years, in order to gain a better understanding of the eruptive history of La Souffrière. A team from the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Guadeloupe (OVSG) and the IPGP regularly collected cuttings from the boreholes during drilling.

  • Testing the compaction of the subgrade (Plate tests)
  • Inspecting the foundation concretes (slump tests, concrete samples and compressive strength)
  • Inspecting the wearing course concretes (slump tests, concrete samples and compressive strength)
  • Inspecting the various materials used to produce the concrete
  • Inspecting asphalt mixes for the freight section

Construction of the Grand Camp hydraulic canal and two trestle bridges

An urban canal project to restore hydraulic continuity between the Grand Camp district and the sea. The concrete canal runs alongside administrative and commercial buildings, part of the N1 national road and crosses one of the largest roundabouts in Guadeloupe, all in a former mangrove area that has been filled in at sea level. The works carried out as part of this project include 2 trestle bridges protected by sheet piling and struts, shoring of a 50-metre-long wall of the N1 national road, underground structures and concrete retaining walls. A G4 mission for the entire project on behalf of CAP EXCELLENCE.

Revising existing environmental documents, developing a study programme and additional assessments - Expansion of the prison - Rue Dugommier - Basse Terre, Guadeloupe (department 971)

As part of the expansion of the Basse-Terre prison, the Agence Publique pour l'Immobilier de la Justice (APIJ), the contracting authority for the project, commissioned Ginger BURGEAP to carry out an additional environmental assessment on the 4 plots, 071, 072, 497 and 498, of section AI. The objectives of the project are:

  • to carry out a more detailed study and accurately define the areas with the highest concentrations of trace metals and hydrocarbons, as the design-build consortium responsible for construction will need to be able to accurately assess the volumes of land involved;
  • to provide technical assistance to the APIJ to analyse the regulations and possible management solutions, taking into account the channels and processes available in Guadeloupe.
