Agencies in La Réunion

Ginger CEBTP’s La Réunion agency, based in La Possession for the past ten years, handles small and large-scale projects in the areas of geotechnical engineering (soil studies), materials engineering (concrete and aggregates), and repair and restoration engineering (diagnostics and pathologies). Our teams operate throughout the island of La Réunion (97), as well as in the wider Indian Ocean region (Mayotte, Seychelles, etc.). The La Réunion agency offers a wide range of services to local authorities, public/private companies, construction and public works companies, developers, consulting firms, individuals, etc., covering all the areas of expertise of Ginger CEBTP. Ginger CEBTP La Réunion is ISO 9001, OHSAS 18001 and OPQIBI certified.

At the end of 2023, the Ginger Group’s presence in La Réunion was strengthened by the arrival of a team from Ginger BURGEAP, led by an experienced project manager. Ginger BURGEAP, a specialist in environmental engineering, assists its clients in all issues relating to soil engineering (contaminated sites and soils), Installations Classified for the Protection of the Environment, and water, air, waste and energy engineering. Ginger BURGEAP's local presence consolidates the Ginger Group's technical expertise in La Réunion, enabling Ginger to provide its clients with a multi-disciplinary, local team with its own sampling resources.

_A multi-disciplinary team

Gaetan Barbarin

«The Ginger CEBTP La Réunion agency is made up of a multi-disciplinary team capable of carrying out all CEBTP missions throughout the Indian Ocean region: geotechnics, structural pathology diagnostics, materials and testing, certification, etc., as well as acting as a relay for other group subsidiaries in the fields of the environment, training, decommissioning, etc.
The Agency has had its own laboratory (materials/soil/concrete) and independent drilling unit in La Possession (974) since 2005, and a branch in Mayotte since 2023. Backed by an experienced team that has worked on La Réunion’s main structural projects, and by a national network of experts, teams and laboratories, Ginger CEBTP can assist you in all your development, urban and structural projects!»

_A wide range of projects

Independent inspection of the viaduct

With 48 piles and a length of 5,400 m, the viaduct of the new coastal road on La Réunion is the longest marine viaduct in France. It links Saint-Denis de La Réunion to La Grande Chaloupe and is part of the new coastal road project to make the route between Saint-Denis and La Possession safer. This pre-stressed structure has been designed to withstand cyclonic swells and keep vehicles away from any risk of the cliffs collapsing.
Ginger CEBTP was commissioned by the region to carry out independent inspections of the engineering structures from 2014 to 2022, and to monitor the installation of the piles, the prestressing system, the asphalt mixes and the structural equipment.

Geotechnical and structural survey of the Port of La Réunion

The Grand Port Maritime de La Réunion has invested in the restoration of quay 1 in the Western Port, which was built in 1957 and was showing worrying signs of weakness. This infrastructure is mainly used by the Sapmer shipping company, which has its warehouses alongside the quay to unload toothfish, crayfish and other catches brought in by its southern fishing fleet.
Following a structural survey campaign carried out by Ginger CEBTP (in 2007) on behalf of the Grand Port Maritime de La Réunion, the CETE (technical studies centre for public works) concluded that the “post 1” quay could no longer be used, as there was a risk of it collapsing. The CETE therefore decided that the quay needed to be rebuilt or reinforced. In 2014, the Grand Port Maritime de La Réunion commissioned Ginger CEBTP to carry a pathological diagnosis of the quay piles and a G1 geotechnical study in accordance with the NFP94-500 standard in order to study the possibility of rebuilding the structure. This will be followed by a G2PRO geotechnical study to help design the new piles.
Ginger CEBTP also carried out geotechnical investigation drilling on behalf of NGE during the 2020 construction phase.

Geotechnical investigation mission for the Roland Garros Airport

The proposed 13,200m² extension to La Réunion Roland Garros Airport will enable the airport to be brought up to international standards and to develop regional and international cargo and passenger links to increase its competitiveness. The project, designed by architects AIA Life Designers in collaboration with engineer Jacques Gandemer and architect Olivier Brabant, will transform Roland Garros into “the world’s first bioclimatic airport”. On behalf of AIA, Ginger CEBTP carried out a G2 AVP engineering mission (preliminary design phase + project phase) with geotechnical investigations in accordance with the NFP94-500 standard. This mission is currently being followed by a G4 geotechnical monitoring mission.

Geotechnical investigations

The project includes the construction of the Koungou wastewater treatment plant. This project will help to bring Mayotte's wastewater management into compliance and improve it. Handover is scheduled for the end of September 2024, and an extension already had already been planned. Ultimately, the plant is expected to serve more than 60,000 people. During the construction phase, the contractor, COLAS Mayotte, contracted the Ginger CEBTP Mayotte office to carry out geotechnical investigations.
