_The expert's point of view

Sylvain PETIT

"As with other sectors, industry is undergoing radical change: climate change, rising energy costs, the return to local production to control supplies, the desire to limit its impact on different environments - the challenges are many and vital to the long-term survival of companies and of the planet.

The Ginger Group anticipated these changes and positioned itself as a major player in this new industry.

The Ginger Group's support for more sustainable industries includes thinking about the building site from the outset, prioritising the redevelopment of strategically located brownfield sites, building sustainably using low-carbon materials, anticipating, measuring and minimising impacts, and using as much renewable energy as possible."

"Geological studies are the first and most important step in developing mineral resource deposits. Ginger SOFRECO has been working in this field for 30 years and has built up solid experience in carrying out exploration campaigns and estimating mineral resources.
Our teams' experience in the mining sector and the methodologies developed by Ginger SOFRECO enable us to offer our clients the solutions that best fit their needs."

Sugar and its by-products

"With experience in more than 70 sugar factories present in more than 25 countries, Ginger SOFRECO has a thorough understanding of the value chain in the sugar and by-products industry and provides services ranging from the design to construction and management of sugar complexes.

The sugar industry is large and demanding, requiring the development of several thousand hectares at very high investment costs. As an engineering consultancy firm, Ginger SOFRECO has often played a pioneering role by applying innovative technical solutions, as in the past for the Borotou sugar complex in Côte d'Ivoire and, more recently, for the White Nile complex in Sudan.

The interest and excitement of these agribusiness projects lies in the optimisation of complex processes involving all the unitary operations of chemical engineering and in the management of multidisciplinary teams involving all State bodies"

_A wide range of projects

PHOS-3 project, Saudi Arabia - MA'ADEN

The PHOS-3 project involves the development of an open pit phosphate mine to produce approximately 11 Mt of ore per annum. Ginger SOFRECO was commissioned to carry out an exploration campaign to estimate resources using the JORC code, followed by a mining survey. This mining survey enabled us to draw up a pre-mining plan and a blasting plan. The mining survey enabled us to draw up a pre-mining plan and a blasting plan. Our teams also took the measurements needed to calculate dilution, losses, mechanical parameters and fragmentation. Our geology and mining team then used this data as the basis for the feasibility study.

Development of the Wadi Sawawin iron deposit, Saudi Arabia - NEOM

Ginger SOFRECO was responsible for designing and supervising the exploration campaign followed by a JORC-compliant mineral resource estimate for the Wadi Sawawin iron deposit in Saudi Arabia.
The work carried out included core drillings/destructive drilling (DD), reverse circulation drilling (RC), the creation of surface sampling trenches, 1:5000 field mapping, satellite imagery analysis, core cutting and geochemical and magnetic susceptibility analyses of the samples produced. Ginger SOFRECO was responsible for defining the drilling operations, maintaining quality assurance (QA/QC), sampling and the geological analysis of the core samples.
The data obtained was used to produce a geological model and estimate the mineral resources of the deposit.

Assessment of the Boké bauxite ore reserves - Compagnie des Bauxites de Guinée (CBG)

Ginger SOFRECO provided expertise and technical support to the CBG mining team for reconciling resource data, reserve data and annual production data, updating the various Life Of Mine Plans (LOMP) and the status of the operation's ore reserves in accordance with the JORC code.
Ginger SOFRECO's services include cash flow analysis, technical and economic risk analysis, technical recommendations and a study of the impact of possible investments on the cut-off grade, the various Life Of Mine Plans (LOMP) and the status of the ore reserves.

Project management assistance for the commissioning of the Al-Khabra mine, Saudi Arabia - MA'ADEN

Ginger SOFRECO provided technical support and project management assistance for the commissioning of the Al-Khabra phosphate mine with a capacity of 15 Mt per year. This operation is part of the client's vast business complex which includes a phosphate operation, an enrichment plant and plants for the production of sulphuric acid, phosphoric acid and purified phosphoric acid, sodium tripolyphosphate (STPP) and dicalcium phosphate (DCP) at Umm Wu'al in northern Saudi Arabia, and ammonia, NPK and diammonium phosphate (DAP) production units at Ras Al Khair on the Arabian Gulf.

The services provided by Ginger SOFRECO include engineering services (detailed mining plan, choice of mining contract strategy, study of the mine maintenance area, pre-commissioning drilling tests, blasting and fragmentation methods), project management assistance (supervision of grade control work, estimation of resources and reserves in accordance with the JORC code, technical review of the mine maintenance area, mining facilities and ammonium nitrate storage) and operational support services (support during commissioning, recruitment and training, operations and maintenance).
