Infrastructure and buildings
_Among today's major challenges
of structures require a diagnostic
The sustainability of structures is a pressing, current issue. Countries are faced with the growing challenge of ageing infrastructure. Ensuring the monitoring and maintenance of structures, making them safe, keeping them operational, reducing deconstruction and optimising the re-use of materials - these are the challenges of the future in order to limit our CO2 emissions and the impact on natural resources. Responding to the climate emergency, sustainable development, materials strategy and the circular economy are our watchwords for the future.

_The expert's point of view
"Nowadays, we have to work more on existing structures and infrastructures to maintain them, avoid rebuilding and draw on natural resources. Existing infrastructure engineering is a rich and complex business, requiring a wide range of skills which we master: civil engineering, chemistry, materials, etc."

_Marshall Plan for bridges
Ginger has taken part in the plan to revive bridges, also known as the "National Bridges Plan". After the collapse of the motorway viaduct in Genoa (Italy) in August 2018, an inventory of bridges in France was decided upon, as at least 25,000 bridges were in poor structural condition and posed safety problems. However, the exact number of bridges is not known and may lie between 200,000 and 250,000. Ginger CEBTP participated in this inventory by winning 4 out of 5 lots (possible per contractor) of the contract for an inventory of engineering structures (bridges and walls) for CEREMA. The Ginger CEBTP experts deployed their know-how and expertise in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, Haut-de-France, Normandie and Grand Est regions.
